Day 1: Discovering the historic center of Gdansk
Dluga Street, Dlugi Targ, and Neptune's Fountain - start your tour from he heart of Gdansk, the Main Town. It is here that you will find the Royal Route, which is a must-walk. Its beginning is the Upland Gate. It continues to run past the Przedbramy community, leading through the Golden Gate to the representative street of Gdansk - Dluga, which turns into one of the most beautiful squares in Europe - Dlugi Targ. From Dlugi Targ, through the Green Gate, it leads further towards the Zulawy Gate, where monarch's retinues disbanded on New Gardens Street. On Dlugi Targ we will see the Fountain of Neptune.
St. Mary's Basilica (5 Podkramarska St.) Take a look at St. Mary's Church in Gdansk, or the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is said to be the largest brick building in the world. It took 159 years for the builders to create this temple. Take a walk down St. Mary's Street. Narrow, cobbled, atmospheric and perfectly reflecting the unique atmosphere and character of the old buildings of Gdansk. You will find numerous stores and stalls offering jewelry with amber.
Museum of World War II, (Wladyslaw Bartoszewski Square 1 )-one of the best museums in Poland, offering a deep insight into wartime events. Spend at least 1.5-2 hours here. The World War II Museum is a narrative museum, where the visitor can explore the origins and consequences of the war, the victims and perpetrators, heroes and ordinary people. From the museum it is not far to Granary Island.
Westerplatte-return to the Long Wharf. It is from here that cruises depart for Westerplatte, a battlefield recognized as a historical monument commemorating the heroic defense of the Gdansk peninsula against the Nazi attack in September 1939.
Walk to Granary Island - Here you can stop by one of the many restaurants to have a delicious meal overlooking the Main City and the Motlawa River, of course.
Day 2: Gdansk close to freedom and nature
A trip to the beach in Brzeźno
Brzeźno attracts tourists with its magnificent, exceptionally wide beach and proximity to various attractions. It is a place for active recreation, rich in bicycle paths, green areas and such amenities as volleyball courts, a water slide and a rope park. The beach in Brzeźno invites you to take autumn walks along the Gdansk Bay. They are exceptionally healthy and quite different from summer beachcombing worth checking out.
